When you see this, post in your own journal with a quote from one of the *N SYNC guys.

"Can you see me past JC's hair?"

Lois and I got home from Orlando last evening. We had a fabulous time, Lois loved Disney World - there's always a chance first-timers won't, but she did - and the race on Sunday went as well as could be expected considering it was a thousand degrees with two million percent humidity.

The Race for the Taste 10K started at 7am and I was already sweating before the sun came up. But there were fireworks at the start and we ran from the Wide World of Sports Complex through Hollywood Studios, along the Boardwalk, into Epcot and around the World Showcase, past Spaceship Earth and the finish was in the parking lot, where we were able to sample four things from the Food and Wine Festival. Baked ziti at 8:30 in the morning is a little weird, but it was fun.

The medal is a huge gold chef's hat with a knife, fork and spoon dangling from it. Disney is so all about the bling.

I finished 1855th out of 2616 people, which was fine. I kept my 12 minute pace pretty much until the end, when I was just so hot. My quad only hurt a little bit, not any more than walking around the parks for 10 hours at a time made it hurt.

I finished 27th out of 60 in my age/gender division, and the average time for that division was my exact chip time.

Ha, Lois got up around 7:30 to get the bus to Epcot so she could be at the finish line and eat with me, and when we got back to the resort at 10, I went for a swim and talked to Ash on the phone and ate and drank some more, while Lois took a two hour nap.

So Erin, Ashley, Meredith and I are going back down on Oct. 24 to run in the Tower of Terror 13K on the 25th. It's at 10pm, and our bib numbers glow in the dark and the medal is an elevator with moving doors, but I told Ash, there's just no way I can walk around the parks all day and then be ready to run 8 miles at ten o'clock at night. She seems to think that makes me a wuss and how can I even think about wasting time resting WHEN WE'RE AT DISNEY WORLD?! She's not accepting my advanced age as an excuse.

The leaves started to change while we were gone and the weather here is just beautiful.

Adam and Colleen and South Korea finally got their shit together and they're leaving Saturday morning. I'll miss them being here, they've been staying here for almost five months, but I'm so happy for them that they can finally go forward with things. This being stuck in limbo shit sucks.

Speaking of being stuck in limbo, things are dragging along here at a snail's pace, trying to get things finalized with New Hospital and Larry. He's staying on the trauma call schedule at Old Hospital until the end of the year, but he needs a real job. He flew to Tampa today to talk to a recruiter about a job in Grosse Pointe (too many e's?) Michigan, but there's no way I'm moving when he's only nine years away from retiring, I'm just not. New Hospital needs to join South Korea in getting their shit together.

I really don't want to know spoilers, but the newsletter keeps posting links to them and my hand just hovers over "click" because it's so hard to resist.

Also, DWtS made me very happy this week. It was pouring in Orlando Monday evening, so we went back to our room to watch TV instead of fighting the wind and our umbrellas in Epcot. And Lance and his purple eyeliner made me very happy, as did Len, finally.

This is the third time my sound card has come loose and I really don't want to let the Genius Bar have my laptop for three days so they can tape it back down again, but I want sound, too. Stupid Geniuses.

Fannishly speaking, )
