It was kind of odd seeing the actress who plays Lilith on Criminal Minds last week, even though she didn't do much besides cry.

I know I've mentioned that we have two furnaces because our house was built in two halves, several years apart. We replaced both of them shortly after we moved here, and Larry keeps saying, "We just replaced those!" all indignantly, but really, they're both almost 20 years old. Anyway, we've been having trouble with both of them this week and as of last night, neither of them were working, even though the furnace guys have been here a couple of times. They were supposed to come again on Friday and never showed up.

So we sat around freezing most of the day, thinking that the fireplace and lots of layers would help. I had to put a sweater and a coat on Neville before he stopped shivering. I had on gloves in my living room, for heaven's sake. You wouldn't think it would be that uncomfortable, because although it was 20*F outside, it was certainly not that cold inside, but finally Larry called the furnace guys, even though they charge $225 for the first half hour on Sunday. Turns out the guy who was here Wednesday had left something important unplugged, so that, added to the fact that no one showed up on Friday because the person who made the appointment went home sick without telling anyone, meant they didn't charge us the $225. They're both sort of working, although the one that was making the whole house smell like burnt plastic is a little iffy, because apparently it needs a new blower.

Okay, that's a lot of boring detail, the point is I was fucking freezing all day, without even one hot flash to warm me up, but it's okay now.

*sigh* But I can't find Fred anywhere. Which has nothing to do with the furnaces, I just realized today that I don't know where he is. I thought I took him out of the sunroom and put him in a box in the living room to keep him warm, but he's not in there. He's not in the sunroom, or under any furniture that I can see in the living room. He's escaped from the box before, but usually he ends up on his back when he does it and then he's stuck and I can find him.

I also can't find my shuffle, which, damn, those things are tiny. I want to put some podfics on it, because getting ready for Disney on the treadmill, I ended my training at the same time I finished listening to Deathly Hallows. I'm not sure I can start with Sorcerer's Stone yet again, but I run better to audio books than I do to music.

In spite of my best efforts, January is starting to take its toll on my psyche. My days are starting to revolve around warm blankets, bagels and Cheerios.
