When the girls were six years old, Erin told us all that she was going to marry Michael Jackson. I think that was the most angry I ever got at Larry's mom, because she told Erin that she couldn't marry Michael, because he was black. It infuriated me, because it was the first time they had been exposed to that kind of attitude, and it came from their Grandma, someone they loved and looked up to. I hated that they ever had to hear that sort of thing, especially so young. And, you know, they were SIX. There really wasn't much chance that Erin was actually going to marry him, I think Helen could have rested easy on that front and kept her mouth shut.
Anyway, I liked his music okay. He inspired some of my favorite Weird Al parodies. *g* He meant a lot to Erin and Ashley. I wish he'd had a happier life, and I wish he hadn't brought unhappiness to other people, to the children whose lives he impacted so negatively, if indeed any of that was true.
Also, RIP Farrah Fawcett. I remember trying desperately to get my hair to look like hers when Charlie's Angels was on TV. I always admired her spirit, even when her life got a little wacky.
I'm going to Oxford tomorrow to spend the weekend with Ashley. I'm very excited. I haven't seen her in over a month, and I really miss her.
Tonight's SPN is Yellow Fever, which I would like a lot more if it wasn't for the way Luther died, and the way Sam and Bobby chose to deal with his ghost. I know the episode has some issues, but I love Jensen's performance, and Jared looks hotass through the whole thing. And I love the little girl who plays Lilith, so there's that.
So, the whole warnings thing. I think it was a little bit different this time around. More intense. Maybe because it got so ugly. I've seen a lot of people saying that they're rethinking their stance on warnings after some of the things that have been talked about. Including myself. And that's good. But, man, I've seen some really awful things said, and I'm not sure it was worth how some people have been made to feel.
The thing that's really been bothering me thing, though, is who said some of those awful things. People who actually shocked me by doing the exact things they've called others on in past discussions, most notably Racefail. I'm having trouble letting go of that, for some reason.
Also, have a Big Bang rec. The Accompanist by
gretazreta. It's Dean/OMC, but don't let that put you off, seriously. It's gorgeous, pre-series, and Sam and Dean are just right here. It'll probably make you cry, but don't let that put you off, either.
