So, it's March. I'm hoping that makes a difference, at least mentally. It's still snowing. Thank you,
hurricanemegan.
But I did 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday, some of it even running, with minimal pain, and I had much energy all the rest of the day. I bought some KT tape - you know, that stuff that wraps all over the place in weird directions - and applied it for shin splints. It's bright pink and quite festive. (Right, the MRI I had in January showed shin splints, not a stress fracture. Apparently the bone was inflamed and my bone marrow was all edematous. Part of me was happy that my bones aren't as brittle as I was afraid they were getting, and part of me was sad, because a stress fracture heals and shin splints are more of a chronic thing.)
Anyhoo, the girls and I are doing the Cincinnati Flying Pig May 2. We all signed up for the half, since Disney kicked all our asses and the weather hasn't really been conducive to training. So, I'm working my way back into running gradually, but hopefully consistently, with lots of cross training.
Speaking of which, I have a dentist appt at 11, which totally throws off my TNT SPN viewing/bike and free weights schedule.
It's funny. Back when I worked, I went to bed at midnight every night and got up at 5:30, or 6, depending on how far I wanted to run in the morning. I got up, ate breakfast and checked LJ, ran a few miles, took a shower and got dressed, drove the 25 minutes to work, and was there at 8AM! How did I do that?
I hated going to bed at midnight, and when I stopped working I was so glad I could stay up later. Now, I go to bed around 1 or 1:30, get up at 8:30, eat breakfast and check LJ, work out/run, take a shower and get dressed, and it's NOON. I think the extra sleep is good, but all I can hear is my mother's voice, telling me I'm wasting the day. I do all sorts of useful things in the afternoon, but she was a morning person, and I'm so ingrained with the idea that if you don't do it bright and early, you might as well not have done it at all. So I feel vaguely guilty everyday.
Obviously, the solution is to get up earlier and move around a lttle quicker.
I may not have the right people on my flist, but I was struck this weekend by how few people mentioned Jared and Gen's wedding. In my previous RP fandom, people would have been all over a wedding. We were, actually, when Joey got married. I hope Jared and Gen had the most fun wedding ever, and that they're enormously happy with each other.
And now it's March 1, which means Google Docs is no longer supporting Firefox 2. Of course, my OS 10.3.9 won't support Firefox 3. *sigh* I know I don't work in Google Docs that often, I prefer Word, but I kind of like having both, in case my poor laptop craps out on me. My desktop and my Netbook are fine, but I prefer writing on my 6 year-old Powerbook, which can't be upgraded, since Apple doesn't sell Tiger anymore, and I can't put Leopard on it. *pets Panther*
Hollywood Babylon today. "You're one hell of a PA." I think my bike is calling my name.
