Omg, I've lost almost two days to Mark Reads Harry Potter! THANKS FOR NOTHING,
saba1798! I can't stop reading it!
We got home from NC and TN on...what day is it? Okay, we got home on Monday. The wedding was awesome. The bride, who originally wanted to wear an old sundress of her mother's, actually wore a wedding dress, a simple halter-type sheath. With lots of bangle bracelets, big rings, a chunky turquoise necklace, and red shoes. Her veil was a mantilla that she made out of her grandmother's wedding dress. The bride, groom, and minister laughed their way through the ceremony. She wanted lots of kids at the wedding, and there were a bunch. The reception was in a tent in a field, with horses and a cornhole game to keep themen kids occupied. There were ten flavors of homemade ice cream, including a beer-flavored one. Everyone sat where they wanted. The band was a rock/bluegrass group called The Sons of Ralph, and they were good enough to play a credible version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." The cake was a big pile of cupcakes. The wedding favors were jars of locally made jelly.
It was awesome.
Then Sunday we went to see Dad and Champ. Champ is what Dad would be if he was a dog.
apetslife, they need you desperately. They are both hyper, slightly insane, and pretty much out of control. Champ is very mouthy and never stops trying to gnaw on people. There we sat, covered in dog slobber, and Dad was going on about how Schnauzers don't smell bad. He kept saying, "Smell your hands! Go on, smell 'em. Nothing, right?" He served us some appetizers, poured us wine, grilled us steaks and corn for dinner, and we had key lime pie for dessert. None of it was properly cooked and we were completely finished by 5pm, because he couldn't sit still. He got a piece of steak caught halfway down and spent all evening running into the bathroom to vomit and telling us all about it in great detail while assuring us that he was fine. We left for the Hampton Inn around 7:30 and I've never been so glad to see a hotel in my life. In the morning he made us undercooked blueberry pancakes and we were on our way.
He's going on an Alaskan cruise next month, mostly to get away from Champ, I think.
Adam and Colleen left yesterday. They're in Hershey today, they're going to NYC, going to visit some friends, and then Adam will leave her at her dad's so she can start school, and he'll come home. It was sad to see her go, I've enjoyed having her here. I hope they can manage the long distance relationship thing well. They really do belong together.
Tomorrow Larry and I are heading for C-Bus, where he's dropping me at Erin's, then Friday she, Ash and I WILL MEET
silveryscrape AT BEATLEFEST IN CHICAGO! \o/
When I've not been reading Mark Reads Harry Potter, I've been reading
sandymg's Big Bang, When Your Lover Breaks, which is exactly the kind of miscommunication angst/amnesia fic that pushes all my buttons.
Also, "Leverage" was boring this week.
