I survived my colonoscopy and don't have to have another one for ten years. It was quite a pleasant procedure, since I was out the whole entire time and then came home and spent the rest of the day sleeping off the anesthesia. I expected to be hungrier than I am. Larry of course decided the occasion called for pizza, but I could only manage a couple of pieces.

My spider bite/MRSA/whatthefuckever exploded yesterday and it now feels much better and seems to be healing. (Larry says it's one of the basic tenets of medicine: pus must be drained.)

The pre-op folks in the endoscopy unit were a bit taken aback when they were going through their usual questions like do you have any allergies, do you have a living will, have you ever had MRSA and I said, "Why, yes, as a matter of fact, I have it right now."

But when I explained to their infection control nurse that the culture's not back yet and I'm on prophylactic antibiotics, they didn't kick me out, which I half expected them to do. My doctor last week practically made the sign of the cross as she hustled me through the rest of my appointment after she saw the lesion. I was surprised she didn't toss a bunch of garlic at me and yell UNCLEAN as I was leaving.

Tomorrow I'm getting fitted for a bite block. I grit my teeth when I sleep and I actually have a callus on the side of my tongue where it keeps getting caught.

The excitement, she never ends.
