So Neville went to the vet today for his yearly checkup. It was quiet in the car. I'm sure he has as many opinions as Adam does, he just shares them differently. When we got Nev in 9/07, he weighted 5lbs 6oz. I realize it was a rescue situation and he needed to gain some weight, which, wow, has he done with a vengeance. Today he weighed 9lbs 4 oz. He's almost doubled his weight! He has a big, round belly! I've been trying to get Larry to back off the cheese and the snacks forever, and I guess I'm going to have to redouble my efforts.
Adam, in the meantime, went with Lar to see the neurologist. *sigh* He has a herniated disk, not just a bulging one. Duh, because all his pain is in his leg and he has foot drop. Anyway, they want to operate, and in fact tried to schedule it on Monday, but that's when his second lens implant is. And then he got all weird about it and told Lar that the lab refused to draw his pre-op bloodwork because he doesn't have health insurance, which was so not true. They just wanted him to pay for it, and he got upset about not having any money and walked out, even though he had our credit card in his pocket and Larry was sitting in the waiting room, waiting to pay for it. He's using the last of his earnings from Korea to pay for his eyes, which aren't covered by insurance anyway. I told him a) he's our child and we're not going to just sit here and watch him walk around like an old man, falling down the stairs because he can't lift his foot up, when there's a solution (I hope) to the problem. and b) stop pouting and ranting about the insurance industry. At this point, it's irrelevant.
Yikes.
January is already fogging my brain. I need to move, or something. I wanted to let my marathon aches and pains go away completely before I did that, but if I don't move soon, I never will. I'm about to sign up for the Pittsburgh marathon (half only!) on May 15, and Cincinnati, again the half, on May 1. They're usually the same weekend, so we have to choose, but the NRA is having their national convention in the 'Burgh the fist weekend of May, god help us, and the city can apparently only do one big event at a time.
Anyway, that should get me moving.
Right now I'm making coq au vin and chocolate chip cookies, just because it's January.
topaz119 and I realized last night that we're definitely BOFQs. I have so little patience anymore for so many things it's not even funny.
I signed up for popslash's Brave Author challenge. Obviously those boys are never going to let me go.
Castle last night was beyond awesome. I'm not sure who I loved more, Castle, Kate, Ryan and Esposito, or Martha.
The other thing
topaz119 and I were talking about is that if there's a show that does *not* have gender issues, it's Hawaii Five-0. Rachael, Catherine, Kono, Mary, Grace, Melia, and the Governor are all strong women who are there for reasons other than the men. And Grace is a card shark! I love it.
