It rained, well, misty drizzle, all morning, and that was very nice. It was in the 60s, not too hot, but very muggy. I saw a girl at a fluid station pour a cup of water over her head, and I thought, whoa, it's raining, just how over-heated are you?
Ashley and I had a great time and now she's on her way back to Ohio. The course was great, lots of people out to cheer, lots of bands along the way. We ran over 4 bridges - Pittsburgh has over 400 bridges, more than any other city in the world - over all 3 rivers.
This was my 8th half marathon in four years. Due to various issues, mostly related to my newly acquired exercise induced asthma, I haven't finished in under 3 hours since the first two halves I ran, in 2007 and 2008. But today, 2:57:12, and I'll take it! (Cincy two weeks ago was 3:07.) The first 8 miles I was a speed demon - no, really, I was, I averaged an 11 minute mile, which is fast for me over any distance more than a mile - and then I got a little short of breath. I never started to wheeze, which was awesome, but I had to slow downa lot a little for the last 5 miles.
Now, no more races until September, unless I decide to do the Father's Day 10K that goes up and down the river by Heinz Field.
Afterward, we made Larry go with us to Eat'n Park for pancakes, which was also awesome. I've been up since 3am, because I couldn't sleep, so I'm thinking a nap would be nice, although I'm still kind of wired.
