I am home from my travels. My stepsister and her husband have a lovely home about an hour out of Philadelphia and I had a very nice visit. I saw pictures of their recent trip to Eastern Europe with my stepmom, who was born in Romania and wanted to go back and see things in her old village.
My stepmom has always been someone with inexhaustible energy, and even at 90, she still has more energy than I do. The only concession to age she makes is an afternoon nap. She's also a voracious reader, consuming about a book every couple of days. While she was born in Romania, she grew up in Brooklyn and Linda says it's great fun to hang out in NYC with her, because she has such great stories.
Anyway, it was a nice visit. For people whose goal is to visit all 50 states and are almost there, and who do it almost all by car, they seemed very impressed that I would drive a whole 4-5 hours to come visit them.
I claimed Same Time, Next Year again for this round of
spn_cinema. I got about 5000 words written last time and gave up, because it was just too complicated, too many issues, and I wanted to write my Big Bang more. I am determined to work things out this time.
Speaking of working things out, I managed to submit a draft for the Sam/Dean Mini-Bang, and then completely failed to contact my artist, because I was busy visiting. I finally did, and sent her the worst first draft in the history of first drafts. My goal this week is to fix that damn story. It's all about Dean fixing the Impala after IMToD, and I can't make it do what I want it to do. The whole point could have been conveyed in a drabble, really. It was dumb to try and make it into a 10,000 word story.
My shins have been bothering me for a week or so, and I've taken a few days off from running, but I really need to get back to it. I bought new shoes yesterday, since that was no doubt the reason for the shin issues, and I'm trying to decide whether to run today or not. I usually buy new shoes when I have 450-500 miles on my old ones, but these have 430 and they're shot. I guess I need to think about 350-400 miles next time.
Last night I caught up on Suits, which continues to be adorable, and Project Runway. What ugly clothes they all made this week.
