I woke up to an inch of snow this morning, which was gone by noon, and then I drove home from the ballet tonight in fog so thick I could hardly find my house.

First ballet of the season. I realized this is the 15th year for my subscription. I got it when the girls were 16, and now they've moved away and I go with Lois and Valerie. Tonight was Peter Pan, which I thought the Pittsburgh ballet had never done before, but in her "ballet" purse, Lois found ticket stubs from Peter Pan in 2006, so not only have they done it, I've seen it. Who knew?

I'm heading over to Columbus tomorrow. Ash is there now, and she and Larry spent the day helping Erin and Nic clean out the kitchen, move furniture, and tear up carpet, as they're getting new flooring next week. I was so sorry I had ballet tickets and couldn't join them for that.

Larry's dad was married three times. Larry's mom was his third wife. He had two children with his first wife, one of whom Larry never met and has been dead for years. The other one, Rusty, was 12 years older than Lar. Larry saw him once in a while, knew him a bit when they were kids. He lived in Wisconsin, and a couple of weeks ago developed pneumonia and died. He had a rough life, lots of cigarettes and alcohol and bad luck, very little money. Larry's been paying his heating bills in the winter for the last few years.

Larry's mom was married twice. Larry's dad was her second husband. She had one daughter with her first husband. Marcia is also 12 years older than Lar, and knew Rusty well when they were in high school. She's been trying to look after him, long distance, for the past several years.

Rusty didn't have much of a family. He was raising two boys, the sons of a former girlfriend. One was his, one wasn't. He was cremated and Marcia is having a memorial service for him in Indiana on Tuesday. So I'm going to C-bus tomorrow, to Indiana on Monday, back to C-bus Tuesday evening, then back here on Wednesday, so I can teach my last class Wednesday night. Larry has to go to Toledo for a meeting on Monday, but he's going to Indiana after the meeting. I assume he's going back to C-bus on Tuesday and then to work on Wednesday.

Anyway, the whole point in all of this is I have 700 words for the Reversebang first draft which requires 3000 words and is due on Tuesday. Wish me luck!

Holy crap, now that was a football game. I think it's the best football game I've never seen. Columbus TV thinks we should watch the Bengals, but there's a Steelers radio network station here. Wow. The score doesn't really demonstrate just how much they dominated the Patriots. Forty minutes of possession vs. twenty. I so wish I could have seen Tom Brady's face, not to mention Bill Belichick's.
