Nevvie and I are about to hit the road for Pittsburgh. I had a very nice weekend. I can tell the February fog is lifting.

Ashley is a brand new fan of both Adam Lambert and White Collar, so she spent the weekend showing me videos of Adam performing and we watched part of season 1 of WC. I in turn tried to explain the awfulness that is Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane and in fact, the whole of the NHL. I'm not sure I succeeded in getting it across. :) But she remembers what a huge hockey fan I was in the 90s and wasn't surprised at seeing it revived via fanfiction. Also, I made her cry with the If You Can Play video. She works at Miami University, after all, and was there when Brendon Burke died. She says hockey is way bigger at Miami than football, and she remembers there was a game the day they found out he died and she spent the day crying.

Also, when the girls were in middle school, the Pens were winning Stanley Cups and everyone was a fan. One of their friends had a Pens-themed Bat Mitzvah. Our present to her was a gold #25, because Kevin Stevens was her favorite player.

She also helped me work out both my [livejournal.com profile] super_disney story and my Big Bang, so I'm ready to write. Thank God.

We all worked on Larry's house - it's pretty much ready for him to move in, if he doesn't mind that the only thing to sit on are kitchen chairs. I think the couch is coming in a week or so. Lar's coming to the 'Burgh tomorrow for a week, anyway. He's giving Grand Rounds at Mercy Wednesday, then staying through the weekend. The girls and Nic are coming over on the weekend and we're having dinner Saturday for my birthday. The girls and Nic, Lois and Miles, and Valerie - I'm making coq au vin, which is my very favorite thing to cook. (The only bad part of the weekend is that Lois's sister, who lives in LA and with whom she has a very distant relationship and who she's been semi-estranged from for years, was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, like, Friday, and was told she has two or three weeks left, and Lois doesn't know what to do. She thinks if she goes to LA her sister will refuse to see her, and I told her to to anyway, if only to know she tried and won't have any regrets later. says the person who was at CFTC when her mother died.)

Anyway, Lar'll be in PGH for a week and when he comes back to C'bus, at least he has a bed at the house and can move the rest of his stuff out of the apt. He really only has clothes left. That's the beauty of a furnished apartment, not much to pack when you move out.

Ash left yesterday afternoon and Erin cooked dinner. Then she and Nic and Larry and I played Clue. Erin was in a good mood - her moods have always dictated our family interaction from the day we brought her and Ash came home from the hospital - and it was all very enjoyable.

I uploaded a million icons last year that fit with my Big Bang story to use to answer comments. I actually got enough to use most of them, but now I have other icons I want to upload, so do I get rid of some of the BB ones? Does it matter on a year old comments page if the icons don't fit the subject matter?? This is very important, it really is.

And I'm putting off leaving by having one more cup of coffee, because I don't really feel like a three hour drive in the rain. However, I have Things To Do at home, so I guess I'd better get going.

Have a good Monday. I know it's possible, if not likely.
