I saw a story posted the other day that has the exact same premise as my
super_disney story. The summary would work just perfectly for what I'm writing. That's never a good thing.
All three of them should be Shanabanned imo - Doan, Hanzal, and Mike Smith. Okay, maybe not Doan, Lewis did turn away at the last second, but seriously, what was that last night, Phoenix Coyotes? Let's lose our collective composure and maim Dustin Brown? I do have to admit to some pleasure at watching Mike Smith lose his shit all over the crease, but come on. Two minutes for embellishing for Brown?
Also, I hate the Coyotes uniforms. I know, like I have room to talk, with a goofy-looking penguin holding a hockey stick on the Pens' sweaters, but seriously. At least they're not BURGUNDY PAJAMAS.
Tomorrow Lois and I are driving to TN to visit my stepdad. I know his dog is the only reason Lois said yes - she loves Champ. We told Dad he's not allowed to cook - Lois will never get over the lobster slaughter from a few years ago, or the raw pancakes he made us for breakfast last year. Then Friday we're going to Black Mountain, NC, to spend the weekend with her son and his wife.
There's a race at the Biltmore Estate Sunday. Lois is doing the 5K and Anne, Graham and I are doing the 15K. Then Monday it's back to C'bus to pick up Neville, then back to Pgh on Tuesday. Wednesday, Lois is going to Iowa for Memorial Day, so Horace is coming here. That's why we have to go get Nev, Horace would be sad here without him.
I've been thinking lately about RP fandoms and what happens when our favorite character does something stupid IRL. (Thanks, Patrick Kane.) I think everyone handles it differently, with varying degrees of anger, betrayal, denial, hand-waving.
Remember when Justin was accused of yelling at a girl and her mother, and security locked them in a room against their will, or whatever the details were? Do we think Joey was faithful to Kelly all those years on the road? What was Steve doing on the bus? What about Lance dating Danielle What's-Her-Name and pretending he was straight? What about all the kinky sex JC was having? (We hoped.) Justin could sleep with a gazillion groupies, but dump Britney because she slept with his friend? Did Nick Carter hit Paris? Did the House of Carters REALLY HAPPEN? What about AJ and his problems?
I guess my point is, RPF requires lots of hand-waving and denial, because these people are real people, and real people aren't perfect. Actually, Kaner reminds me of AJ, only there doesn't seem to be anybody who's been able to be of any help, at least not so far, or with any long-lasting effects.
Anyhoo, I'm just saying, it's been interesting to watch people react, and it's one of the things that makes RPF so fascinating.
