Where did the term "one-shot" to describe a story come from? I don't like it.

It's cold and rainy here today, which is actually quite delightful. I'm really tired of being hot.

I ran 3 miles on the treadmill this morning, and my toe isn't any redder or bigger than it has been and it didn't hurt when I ran. It's a little sore when I poke it, but it was good to know that I can run. It's red and the skin is shiny over the last knuckle, and Larry says he thinks the fracture was/is across the joint. He also said it would take 18 months to heal, but he's known for being a bit of a dick when it comes to any of us and our minor injuries and illnesses. (He's always instantly there and correct with a diagnosis if it's serious, though, so we let him have his fun. I had meningitis once, and before I finished telling him about how bad my headache was, he had us all in the car, the kids to daycare, and me in the ER. Of course, then I was in the hospital for a week and on respiratory isolation and he hardly ever came to see me, even though he worked in the SAME BUILDING, and one night when I wanted him to come visit and bring me clean underwear, he came and stood at the door of my room with Erin and Ashley, who were 4 at the time, told them to put their hands over their mouths and not breathe in, and tossed a paper bag full of underwear onto my bed from the doorway. Then they waved and turned around and left, all because he didn't feel like calling our babysitter, who lived next door. But he got the diagnosis right!)

Anyway, I ran today. :)

(We're not going to talk about stamina. Ash quit training about 6 weeks ago and only managed a 16 mile long run. At least I managed a 20 mile run, even if it was 5 weeks ago. We've decided not to let that take away from our excitement or enjoyment of our trip. There's an 8 hour time limit on the race, the last 17 miles are along the ocean, and we have cameras. We've also decided to do the race together, even though under the best of circumstances her pace is 4-5 minutes faster than mine. That adds up after 26 miles. I told her she's free to run ahead of me any time she wants to. Last year at Disney Erin stayed with me, said it was the best she's ever felt at the end of a race, and then said she'd never do it again because I was so slow. Whatevs, Erin. So, I'm not holding anybody back this time! Anyway, Ash and I started saving up to be able to afford this trip 13 months ago, the race is surrounded on each side by several days in MAUI, and so we're not stressing over the actual race itself.)
