So, a few months or so ago, Larry's a little hazy on the details, someone in Western PA decided it would be a good idea to set a horse on fire. His name is North Star, and he's been at the Equine Center at Ohio State ever since. Larry offered his help when it happened, and they called him a couple of weeks ago.
There's a burned area that isn't healing, and they want Lar to do a skin graft. He went to the Equine Center today to figure out the logistics. Apparently North Star has had several surgeries already, but is no longer happy with being operated on while standing, so they have to figure out positioning and anesthesia and, you know, show Larry how to operate on a horse.
He's really excited about it. He and I are going to Palm Springs Sunday for the American Burn Association annual meeting, so he's going to graft North Star when we get back.
(This icon is the closest I have to a horse.)
Dad is going to Germany on Saturday. He's back home, because he was bored and unhappy at my stepsister's house. He has a sitter who makes sure he takes his meds, eats, and doesn't fall. Which he did the first day he was home, right against the china cabinet, knocking the glass out of the door. Whatever, at least he's no longer driving. I call him every few days, but he doesn't always remember. I hope he has a fabulous time on his trip. The tour company is used to dealing with old people, so they're fine with him going.
I stayed up way too late to watch the Jackets beat Anaheim last night, so I may have to let them play the Kings without me. Five games in seven days in four time zones - who thought that was a good idea? Also, who thought it would be easy to build a fanbase when half the games are three time zones away? I'm glad they're moving to the East next year.
Also, wtf Vancouver. You were supposed to beat Dallas tonight.
