...no, never mind, Sidney Crosby was only five years old when David Volek and the Islanders crushed my soul and caused me to stop watching hockey for almost two decades. (What can I say, I'm sensitive.) And Sid has 75 points in 41 career games against the Islanders, his highest point total against any team.

So I'm down with the Isles for the Pens in the first round. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, and Sid is apparently not happy with his face shield, since he can neither breathe nor see while wearing it, but James Neal is back and he scored a hat trick last night, and Sid's at least practicing, and how can you beat a PP unit of Sid, Geno, Neal, Iginla, and Letang? (Oh, god, I'm sure there's probably a way. Don't tell me.)

I think Chicago will crush the Wild, and they may only need three games to do it, that's how badly they're going to beat them. Not that I'm bitter that the team whose owner signed Parise and Suter to those deals last summer, knowing full well there was going to be a lockout, and who then spent the entire lockout whining about how those kind of deals were what they were trying to get rid of because they were so onerous, THAT team, who had the same number of points as the Blue Jackets and is in the playoffs because of a TIE-BREAKER, while Nashville without Suter and New Jersey without Parise aren't in either...okay, I think I lost myself somewhere in that sentence, but the point is, I'M NOT BITTER. LET'S GO HAWKS.

Larry's dad was very handy around the house. If it required tools, he could do it. He taught Larry all that stuff, too, so Larry knows how to do things ~in his head, but...his dishwasher is acting up, and we spent a lot of time mopping soapy water off the floor after he "fixed" it this afternoon. As a handyman, let's just say Larry makes a great surgeon.

Back to Pittsburgh tomorrow. I miss Neville. He's been at Lois's harassing Horace all week.

Erin and Nic went to the Columbus Crew (MLS) game last night. This happened: )

Palm Springs is a very weird place. Hot, sunny, gorgeous desert and mountains. Lots of old people, many of them gay couples who spend their time in restaurants making tennis dates. A little on the Bohemian side. Obsessed with Marilyn Monroe. Small downtown area, where I'd say at least 60% of the shops are empty and the storefronts are boarded up. About the only thing left are some gift shops, a few dentists, and a lot of fabulous restaurants. There's a casino which brings in busloads of Red Hat ladies. There was a street fair Thursday night with a gazillion people, lots of arts and crafts, food carts, and horses to pet.

This was the most interesting thing there. )
