Cold, gray, rain, and snow does't exactly say, "Let's eat a salad," does it?
I just keep eating all the bread.
I got nudged to post today by
kaelie, which is fitting, since pretty much all I have to talk about is home renovations. Three bathrooms at once - who thought that was a good idea? Along with the handyman who patched and painted the dining room ceiling, fixed a loose handrail on the stairs, patched and re-papered one of the walls in the sunroom, fixed the leaky sunroom door, and patched and painted the big spot on the garage wall where Larry somehow spilled acid a million years ago.
Old houses that have been lived in for 27 years need a lot of help to be market-ready, can I just say.
Actually the bathrooms aren't going too badly. The problem is the contractor has just been sending people over willy nilly, so things aren't getting done in order. The painter can't paint until the plasterer is done with the walls. The plasterer was waiting for the electrician, who finally showed up today. He seemed fairly uncooperative, but most of what I needed got done.
I'm heading to C'bus tomorrow, probably to stay until after the baby is born. Renovations will continue in my absence, and I'm hoping it'll be mostly done whenever I come home. My contractor did Lois's bathrooms a few years ago, so she's going to keep an eye on things. As long as they don't let Lucy out, they're free to do whatever they want while I'm gone.
Now, if at Erin's doctor's appointment tomorrow her doctor tells her it'll be a while, I may come back Monday just to check on things. Her due date is still the 24th, but no one seems to think she's going to last that long. I'd wait to go over there until Monday or Tuesday, but our realtor has about ten houses for us to look at this weekend. Plus, there's a hockey game Friday night, and I've already missed a couple of home games by being here in Pgh.
I wanted the bathrooms to be done this week, but things like that always take longer than you think they might. I'm not too stressed about it, because it is what it is, and it'll get done when it gets done.
Anyway, that's my life right now - I have no idea if I'm coming or going most of the time!
Christmas, however, was awesome. I was so happy to see Adam, so happy to meet Kae, and sad to see them leave. But they're very happy, he's very happy, and I haven't heard from them since they went back to Japan on the 2nd, which means everything is great. He left me a DVD of the first TV interview he did last year, and it's so nice to be able to watch that. I can see where he lives and works, and watch him talk about how designing cities around trees is his life goal. Or something like that.
He also says in the interview that he loves bonsai, and trees, because they're alive, like people and animals, but that they live slower, and that's what he likes about them.
I've watched signups and postings for spn_j2_bigbang, spn_meanttobe, spn_cinema, spn_reversebigbang, all those challenges I used to write for. I miss it a lot and wish I could figure out how to write again. :(
And even though it's late, I need to give Neville a bath before we go to bed, because he seems to have rolled in something horrifically smelly. He's not going to be pleased, poor baby, but he's next to me on the couch right now and I can hardly breathe. :)
