There's a version of "This Boy" on the Beatles' Anthology where John and Paul repeatedly mess up the lyrics that I adore. If you're not familiar with the words, sometimes they sing "this boy" and sometimes they sing "that boy." In this outtake, when one sings "this," the other sings "that," and they end up giggling all over the place. They go ahead and finish the song, and John's vocals on the bridge are a thing of beauty, but mostly it's the laughter that I love. Every time I hear it, it makes me smile a lot.

Our neighbor, who has a lawn care business and a couple of pieces of heavy equipment, wants the wood from our downed oak tree. He's been cleaning it up (thus saving us about two grand) and taking the big pieces to a sawmill. The trunk is too big to fit the mill and has to be cut in half first. The sawmill guy calculates that the tree was over two hundred years old. Now I'm even sadder that it's gone, although seeing the devastation in the South after the tornadoes makes me mostly feel lucky. But still, what a grand old tree it was.

Right before Adam and Colleen left Korea, there was an outdoor mural contest in Tong Yeoung. There were 43 entrants, and Adam won 3rd place, with a $500 prize. So, what with that, the mural he painted on a wall somewhere in Thailand a couple of years ago, and of course the Adam Jones Graffiti Wall at Alfred University, he has taken to referring to himself as an international muralist. He is such a dork. Of all the places they're going on their Southeast Asia wanderings, he's most excited about Borneo, because there are ORCHIDS there, and he loves orchids. I can't believe I haven't actually seen him in eighteen months. Two more months and he'll be home. Completely taking over my basement.
