Adam and Colleen are leaving today to spend time with her dad, and with some friends in MA. They'll be back in a couple of weeks and then over the Fourth, Ashley and Bill and Erin and Nick are coming. My children have never all three had SOs at the same time, so it should be interesting. I'm very excited.
I'm also very excited that I can spend all summer reading other people's Big Bangs now. I kind of like this first day thing. Except, of course, that means the folks at
spnpermanon have lots of time to focus on the first stories, until they wear out from the sheer volume of fics.
I know I shouldn't have read my thread yesterday, but I couldn't resist. There were some nice comments, but here's mostly what I learned:
It's rude to use song lyrics for your title because you infect unsuspecting passers-by with earworms, plus it's lazy. If you can write 20,000 words, you should be able to come up with a few more on your own for a title.
My story has no plot and nothing really happens. (Which is absolutely true.) That would be okay if it wasn't a Big Bang. Big Bangs should have plots.
I wasn't really bothered by what was there. It's a perfectly valid opinion to think it's a boring story where we learn nothing new, because I kind of suspect that myself.
I like it anyway. :)
I'm resisting the temptation to go read more, because it's kind of refreshing to hear what people who don't like your stories have to say. Except that place has a tendency to devolve, so maybe I won't.
