Adam left for Japan this morning. It was hard, I must admit. I remember when he was in college and he took a year off to backpack around Europe. We didn't even take him to the airport, because we were in Disney World. To be fair, we were there for some kind of trauma meeting, and Adam had already scheduled his trip when we decided to go, but it was like, no big deal. You're leaving for six months, without a cell phone, do you think you can find a ride to the airport?

And he went off with his big ears and his weirdly-colored curly hair and his backpack, and they detained him at Heathrow because they thought he didn't have an income, that he was just going to Europe to bum around. And they couldn't get a hold of us because we weren't home and Adam had no idea what my cell phone number was. Finally, they fed him a sandwich and let him go.

Things are very different this time. This time he's flying business class and wearing a suit. (It was a packing issue, mostly, but he looked very spiffy.) Colleen and I could have done without another earthquake in Japan yesterday, however.

When he went to Korea, he was with Colleen, and they had to deal with so much red tape that by the time they left, they were cranky and we were glad to see them go.

But I got used to him being here this past year. I'm going to miss him.

I had to watch "Salvation," "Devil's Trap," and "IMTOD" for BB research, so that made me feel much better. So, so young. So very pretty.
