So I'm really late with my JC in New York report. We got home last night and I had to work today and I was tired. All the highlights have been hit in other reports, but here're my thoughts anyway.

Flying was great. We got off the plane at noon and were at our hotel by 12:30. Amazing. Too bad we couldn't check in until 3:00. We ate and walked a lot. We decided to get in line around 4:45. We met fun people in line, an gay guy, maybe in his late twenties, who was joking about how he would have the men's bathroom all to himself, since he was almost the only guy there. Four cute little girls who brought us hot chocolate when we held their place in line while they went to Starbucks. It was cold, though, and we were almost asphixiated by the hot dog vendor right next to us. I had an extra ticket, which I haggled with a scalper over, and he finally gave me $15 for it. ::shrugs:: It was $15 more than I would have had if I hadn't sold it to him, but he pissed me off by reselling it for $40 and then bringing the buyer to me so I could tell her it was real. Asshole.

When the doors finally opened, we immediately got wristbands and went up to the balcony. We were right at the end, close to the stage, with a completely unobsructed view. There was a short girl behind me, and since she wasn't pushy, I switched places with her periodically so she could see. It pays to be nice because our camera crapped out and she's going to send us copies of her pictures. My impressions:

The boy has energy. A lot of energy. "" He sweats a lot. He was having more fun than should be legal.

He told us twice that because we had come to the show, we were now part of his family. I wonder what he's getting us for Christmas?

When he drained that whole bottle of water at once, it was so very hot.

The dancers didn't distract me because I didn't watch them. At all. I just watched JC, I couldn't take my eyes off him. However, eight dancers is way too many for a small stage. I kept worrying that JC was going to fall off, or dance off, the front of the stage.

He said, "Because yes."

The red shirt that continually rode up on the right side- wow. His pants were low, his shirt was high, I just kept staring at his hip.

He's right when he says he's crazy.

I watched Lonnie tell a girl to put something, a video camera, maybe, away. He was fairly nice about it.

The towel incident- from upstairs, you could see the whole section of the crowd sway as those two girls played tug of war with the sweaty towel. It went on for far too long. When they finally tore it apart with their teeth, one of them held her half up to her face and inhaled. (I make no judgements here, I only report what I saw.)

The bass was a little overpowering at times, and the backing tracks were too loud. When I see something live, I don't expect all the bells and whistles you get on a studio recording. He just needs to sing, with maybe backup singers, that's all.

He was having so much fun, did I mention that?

We had a wonderful time, and it was so worth it.

[livejournal.com profile] silveryscrape, there were no posters. I did get you a t-shirt, however. It's beautiful.

Our hotel room was surrounded by buildings, so there was no natural light. We were tired and ended up sleeping until 12:30 the next day. That kind of cut into our shopping time! Erin's goal was to spend her graduation money at the Burberry store, which she did. At one point I wondered why there weren't more people out on the streets, until we discovered they were all in Bloomingdale's.

We had a wonderful, expensive dinner at Bolo's, and flew home yesterday, spending four hours in the Syracuse airport. I spent the time rereading Goblet of Fire.

In other news, my son came home from college and forgot to bring home any clothes. He's home until Jan. 16. How does one forget their clothes? He has one pair of pants and no underwear. And he thinks I'm stupid.

I have opinions about Justin's alleged second solo album, which I may share another day.

I can't wait until the SeSa stories go live. I hope my recipient isn't disappointed. I picked the pairing, got an idea, wrote the story, not a lot of angsting over it, which worries me. It's okay, but I never felt completely engaged by it. I wanted to write something incredible, but I don't think I did.

One more day of work, then twelve days off. Heaven.

My mother-in-law arrives tomorrow for Christmas. Not so much heaven. But she's only staying until the 28th. There was a time when she would come at Thanksgiving and leave after New Year's, so I can't complain.

I love the bootleg of JC's show, but the screaming girls make me want to smack someone.
Music:: Let's Go Crazy-JC
Mood:: 'grateful' grateful
