I spend all winter wanting to move to Orlando, and then the minute the temperature goes over 75, I can't remember why. I hate hot weather.
These are the shoes Erin wants me to get her for her birthday. Notice the price. I don't think so.
Adam and Collen are settling in nicely. The other day I found him rearranging the furniture in their room, muttering something about feng shui. Colleen has him out looking for summer jobs today.
I have a question for SPN people - I notice in a lot of fic, John sometimes drinks a bit too much when the boys are growing up. I see no canon support for that. Am I missing something?
Larry has a couple of traps set around the yard for chipmunks. He does that every year, as if getting rid of a couple of chipmunks is going to make a difference. "They undermine the foundation of the house!" he says, every single summer. If he catches any, we drive them down the street and let them go. Don't even ask. Well, he caught one the other day and what did he do with it? Let it go in the front yard so Neville could chase it. "He's never seen one that close up before!"
Neville got a summer haircut today. He looks like a different dog, but now maybe he won't bring in half the yard in his fur. I think he's sad about it, though. He's kind of subdued.
I'm really, really happy with my JuC story swap assignment.
One thing that will make me hit the back button when I'm reading a story? Should have went. I'm out of there so fast. It's a very Pittsburgh thing to say, actually, but it makes me cringe.
Last chance for the Pens tonight. Unless they win, of course. Then the next game will be their last chance.
One of the things I really like about fandom is understanding things that no one else does. Lexicon, quotes, phrases. I like that in popslash it's almost automatic to do air quotes after "a lot," that we all know what "because, yes," means. I like that in SPN, if I see an icon of a middle-aged man in a ratty hat with the caption "ditchable prom date" I know exactly what it means.
Speaking of icons, the other day, in a post somewhere else about something else, someone I don't know said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Seeing an icon post with the words "icons are not bases" drives her crazy, because people who make icons take a picture that someone else took and run it through some program (that is a direct quote) so how can they claim they created something of their own? Once it's posted, it's fair game for anyone to take and do anything they want to with it."
Okay, really? Do some people really think that way? I take source material, run it through some kind of program (my brain) and create a story. How is an icon any different? I just couldn't believe the ignorance and arrogance of that stance. Is that like, a new attitude? Is it common in some places?
And now I have to go make dinner.
