So I'm watching the Steelers play the LA Rams in Superbowl XIV in 1980. The Steel Curtain and Terry Bradshaw when he had hair. It's pretty interesting to see how differently they played back then. I think it has to do with the way they moved. Also, the hairstyles you can see in the stands are bringing back some really scary memories. But they're all waving Terrible Towels, so it's okay.
I just finished watching SPN 4.13 again. So much love.
It's still snowing. One of our neighbors runs a lawn service out of his garage, and several years ago he was hurt doing something, I have no idea what, and he was Larry's patient. He has a snow plow and he's been keeping our driveway plowed, which is very nice of him. I had no idea who was doing it, but Larry figured it out.
I'm not a SF/F fan, and I really didn't know a lot of the people involved in the recent cultural appropriation/racism "discussion," last week, although I did put my 2 cents in here and there. I also don't know a lot of the people who are really active in the Criminal Minds fandom. Most of the names linked in the newsletter,
bau_inbox aren't familiar to me.
Last week's CM had some pretty appalling racial/ethnic things going on, involving Romani cultural stereotypes, including the invoking of Cher's "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves." I clicked on the episode discussion links in the recent CM newsletters, but no one seemed to have been bothered by it, or even noticed it. There was mostly a lot of squeeing about how hot Hotch was when he was playing good cop/bad cop with Prentiss.
There was one post linked in the NL that expressed discomfort with the cultural appropriation/distortion aspects of the episode. And it was by
matociquala, the person who made the original post that started the whole cultural appropriation/racism situation last week.
And if you weren't following that, you probably have no idea what I"m talking about. And I have no point, really, I just thought it was interesting.
I still have nothing more than a vague idea for my Big Bang story. I need to get focused and think of something to do with said vague idea. I mean, last year I was all Groundhog Day! Dean's last day! and that was enough to get me started. But that was a great hook to hang a story on. I don't have a hook yet and I don't even know where to start. I should make that a goal this weekend, in amongst all the Superbowl frenzy.
Also, I stay out of fandom memes, be they love or hate, but I just want to say that I love my flist very, very much.
