Well, I certainly hope the schoolchildren of America survived the President's speech to day without all becoming little socialists. No, actually, I hope they come home and tell their stupid, bigoted parents how much they love Barak Obama and are planning on voting for as many socialists as they can when they're old enough. Now that they've been indoctrinated, and all.
I think I'm angrier about this whole thing than I have been about anything in a long time. He's the fucking President of the goddamn country. Even though W made me want to puke every time he opened his mouth, I would never in a million years have denied his right to talk to whoever he wanted, when he wanted. Obama isn't still a candidate, he's the PRESIDENT. Way to disrespect the office, assholes.
I think that's what gets me the most, is the people who want to act like Obama isn't the legally elected President of the country. He is, and he's not going away for a while yet. I know some of it is politically motivated, but to me it seems like racism, pure and simple. And it's so insulting and disrespectful I have no words.
Or no words that really convey how appalled I am.
On the news last night, they were talking to some of the idiots who were objecting to his speech today, and one woman said, "I don't like him because it's always 'me, me, me' with him." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??
Okay, moving on. But not letting it go. I'm pissed.
One more might until there's something on TV I want to watch, \o/. I was a little nervous earlier when I realized the Steelers are playing Thursday night again. If the game was going to be on CBS, I was afraid it would be like last week, with them switching CBS's programing to the CW affiliate. But the game is on NBC, thank goodness.
Speaking of this Thursday night, EEEEEEEEEEEEE! Finally!
I know different people have different feelings about RPF, and I accept that that's why there are so many J2 AUs, and I respect that. Whatever makes you comfortable. But am I the only one kind of bothered, or distracted might be a better word, when authors use different names for character's family members other than their real ones? Like, giving Rocket Scientist!Jensen a sister and naming her Sally? I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm saying it's distracting, and seems kind of pointless, really.
I got a call the other day from the local community college where I taught non-credit sign language classes what seems like a million years ago, and they want me to teach this semester. I said yes, because I can't think of any reason not to, except it's been a few years and my signing skills are a bit rusty. Since it's a non-credit class, it should be okay. I'll get back up to speed pretty quickly. Also, all my video teaching aids are video tapes, and schools don't have VCRs anymore. I think all my books and notes and lesson plans are in a box under my bed. Please, god, don't let me have thrown them away in a fit of purging. I guess I'd better look for them tomorrow. I start next Wednesday night. (If the class was on Thursday night, I would have totally said no.)
