Nothing like continuing to edit a story after it's been posted. It's time to leave it alone.
I wrote and posted a post-apoc story for
spn_j2_xmas yesterday. In any other fandom, I really, really don't like post-apoc stories. But SPN has given me a whole new way of looking at it. Like, post-apoc can mean after the apocalypse has been averted, and everything is fine. Lucifer and Zacharia and Meg and Michael have all gone away. Those kind of stories I like. I like the hope of giving Sam and Dean what they deserve after everything they've been through.
I'm an optimist, and I like to think Kripke will see it the same way.
Anyway, I realized after I finished writing the story I posted yesterday (obviously I wasn't really finished with it, since I just edited it again) that it pretty much is a sequel to Turn Off Your Cell Phone and Crack Out the Gatorade, the story I wrote for
whenthewarsover. I think I really like that 'verse, or whatever you want to call it. Are two stories a 'verse? It's a hopeful place for the boys.
My SeSa story, otoh, wants to be angsty. Part of that is the fault of the pairing, but I don't want to write an angsty story for a holiday fic exchange. Maybe melancholy and bittersweet would be okay? I'm struggling because of where it wants to go. I'd be okay with where it wants to go if it wasn't for MtYG.
I bought some bedroom furniture the other day for the room that was Erin's when the kids were growing up, then Ashley's while she was in grad school, then Adam and Colleen's last summer. It's full of mismatched stuff, like a twin headboard for a king-size bed, a broken dresser from Ikea, and a white wicker desk. So the local furniture store was having a sale and I bought a few pieces that actually match, and that now that no one is living there, maybe the room will stay nice. When Ash lived there she painted the walls dark orange and rust, and the woodwork is dark, and so is the new furniture. I need to find a way to brighten it up. Also, it just occurred to me today that I bought a queen-sized bed and I now I need to buy a queen-sized mattress. The furniture is coming Monday, I should get on that. And maybe TJ Maxx for some sheets and lamps and stuff.
I think I'm getting a cold. It's been probably 2 years since I've had a cold. I hope it's a quick one.
