Poor Larry. We go through this every year at Halloween. He buys a huge bag of candy and we get 0-2 Trick-or-Treaters. Tonight we got 2. We have a total of 9 kids below the age of ten living on either side of us and across the street, but they do the same thing we did when our kids were little - go someplace else. Our street is dark, no streetlights, no sidewalks, and all the houses are set back from the street. Our kids always went to their friends' neighborhoods.

But Larry loves it when kids show up, and I felt bad for him. He was even outside, looking to see if there was anyone around.

My left shin started hurting after I ran on Wednesday, so instead of running 15 miles today, I spent some time on my bike, watching Sorcerer's Stone. Mark Reads Harry Potter just got finished with Deathly Hallows, and I decided to start watching the movies in preparation for the movie. It'll take me awhile to build up to HBP, since it's kind of rage-inducing, imo.

Anyway, I'm doing lots of shin splint rehab and treatment, so we'll see if it gets better. I'm not panicking yet. It was just about this time last year that my right shin started hurting, but the difference is that happened during an 18 mile run where I kept running in spite of the pain, and this time it was after a 4 mile run, so I'm hoping it won't be as bad. Last year it lasted 2 months no matter what I did. At least I've signed up for both the Disney half marathon and the full, so I have a choice come January. No despair yet, but I think if I finally manage to run the full this time, I may stick to shorter distances after that. I love the long mileage, but once I get over 15 miles, I seem to hurt something. I'd rather stick to 10 mile runs and be able to keep running, instead of always nursing an injury.

Anyway, that's a decision for another day, I was just been thinking about it today as I took ibuprofin, warmed up, stretched, applied heat, rode the bike, iced, applied heat, then massaged. It took me longer than my 15 mile run would have.

My [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang is almost done. That's a good thing, since I need to post it next Saturday. Larry and I are going to Columbus from Wednesday to Saturday - well, I'm going Thursday, since I have to teach class Wednesday night - so I'm hoping to have it just about ready to post by then.

I guess since I didn't post most of the week I had a lot to say. I have things to say about SPN 6.06, too, but not tonight.

The Steelers are making me nervous. It would be awesome if they could beat the Saints in New Orleans.
