I'm torn. I loved this one. But it was Loflin and Dabbs, whose episodes I usually hate. It's like after all this time, they still have no idea who Sam and Dean really are, and what drives them, what moves them, what they care about. They almost always sacrifice character and continuity to their one-liners and comedic dialogue. Yellow Fever can be partially excused because it was their first one, but, come on, they're producers now. They're on the team. They should know what they're doing.

Otoh, Octovamp, Seabiscuit the Impaler, and Land Shark still have me laughing this morning. (I swear, I typed "Lance" instead of "Land" there. For some reason, that makes me happy.) Anyway, I loved the unicorn, loved how in sync (heh) Sam and Dean were. They worked together so well. They teased each other, and Sam was so happy to see Dean happy. Ballwasher! The funny parts were really funny.

The laughter at the end, with Sam covered in glitter, was so wonderful. So refreshing. They deserved a good laugh, both of them. I'm sure it was the calm before the storm, but whatever. It felt very Jared and Jensen to me, that was Jensen's laugh, especially, not Dean's, but I loved it anyway.

Here's the thing, though. I'm okay with taking a break from the myth arc, that's what stand-alones and comedic eps are all about. I'm sure Dean will be back to drinking soon enough. I just really enjoyed the break from the angst. BUT. Either Dean was sorry about the clowns or he wasn't. Sam was obviously traumatized. Dean was all sympathetic with the kid whose mom was working at being left alone, apologized to Sam for dumping him at Plucky's when they were kids, knows the clowns beat the crap out of Sam. That worked for me, but then the next minute he's giving Sam a clown doll and laughing at him being all beat up. He forced Sam to be the one to deal with clowns, which, okay, he did that in ELAC, too, I guess, or at least made him sit in the clown chair. And for all his trauma, Sam laughed it off, too. I know he said now that he'd faced his fears he was okay, but.

Okay, I don't know what I'm trying to say here. I guess I'm just saying L&D just annoy me, even when they're making me laugh. At least this time they didn't enrage me, like they did with "Season Seven, Time for a Wedding!" Maybe they won't be writing any more episodes this season. That would make me happy.

Just as a side note, since I'm rambling here, while I hate L&D, the episode I dislike the most, "Family Remains," was written by Jeremy Carver, who wrote my two favorite episodes. FR and "Live Free or Twi-hard" are the two episodes I can't watch again. Well, okay, I guess I have to add "Season Seven, Time for a Wedding!" to that list. I found every single person in FR to be completely unlikeable, including Sama and Dean, and in LFoTH, I hated that that's how Dean and Lisa's relationship ended. SS,TfaW! needs no explanation, I'm sure.

As we know, with this show I'm easy and very forgiving, so it's not surprising there are only three episodes I hate. Not that every one has been stellar, but did I mention I'm easy?
