Still in Seattle. We're going back to Columbus tomorrow. Sunday there's a 5K race benefiting the OSU burn program that Erin and Ashley and I are running. I hate flying east, so I would imagine I'll be staggering instead of running.
Bye, bye, Tim Thomas. \o/ Caps! Also, \o/ Rangers and Devils. I think I imprinted on the old conferences and divisions, the Patrick division of the Prince of Wales Conference in particular. The Devils, Islanders, Flyers, Rangers, Pens, and Caps. Those seems like real teams to me, along with the Bruins, the Leafs, Habs, Red Wings, and Blackhawks. (Also, the conference names were way cooler back then. The NHL got hit with the boring stick in 1994, they really did. Campbell Conference, Norris and Smythe divisions, and the Wales Conference, Patrick and Adams divisions - how is that not more fun than EASTERN and WESTERN and whatever other compass directions pass for division names these days?)
The rest of the teams seem made up, or something.
I'm seriously contemplating buying a quarter season ticket package for the Columbus Blue Jackets. (Speaking of made up teams.) Pretty cheap and readily available. You can pick your games - I could pick the games for when they play teams I actually want to see, for example the Chicago Blackhawks. Also I could get All-Star tickets, at least to one of the events: game or skills. There's a waiting list of almost 5000 people for Pens season tickets, and it costs $200 a seat to get on the list. I can get a quarter season Blue Jacket package for $169, if I want to sit in the very top row. Also, the All-Star game is in C'bus in 2013, not PGH. It would give Lar and I something to do when I'm over there. It's very tempting.
I haven't given up on Big Bang yet, but it's becoming more unlikely that it will happen this year. However, I'm going to spend the afternoon writing, right now, so we shall see.
