I'm enjoying these last few days of peace and quiet. Starting Saturday, I won't be alone for almost two weeks. I'm not used to that!
Did 20 miles this morning. I started at 6:15, and there was a breeze, and shade, but this marathon training in the summer is for the birds. Also, my knees hurt, which is new. I'm about to take a nap, and when I wake up they'd better be all better. I don't like new pain in new places. I do love post-long run lounging. I have
deirdre_c's J2 Big Bang to read, my compression socks on, and a cupcake. Neville and Horace are both asleep, and it's very nice.
Horace is here because Lois is in Italy with her son, who, while he's working on his PhD in German, is in Italy taking Italian classes. Her husband didn't go, but apparently Horace doesn't like to be alone all day and all evening while Miles is at work and at the GUN CLUB, which I certainly hate to encourage, but whatevs. Horace and Lucy are co-existing peacefully and it's too hot for him and Nev to want to do much more than nap.
Ashley called last night all upset because her dress for the wedding no longer zips all the way up. She bought it ages ago, no longer had the tags or receipt, and she was just all pissy and frustrated and mad at herself for gaining weight this summer. (Marathon training make you ~hungry.) I'm not sure what I was supposed to do about it, since whatever I said was met with "Yeah, but, the problem is..." She finally contacted Nordstrom's, explained the situation, they said, sure, no prob, send it back, we'll send you a bigger size. (Also, I told her to calm down about the "weight gain." I mean, we're talking about sending back a size 4 in exchange for a 6. But I get it, Erin would kill her if she showed up at the wedding without a dress.)
So, here's the schedule.
Thursday - Nev has a hair appointment and I have a massage, for which my legs will be very grateful.
Friday - I have a hair appointment - no gray roots for the wedding.
Saturday - Me and Nev to C-bus. There's a department of surgery shindig of the cookout variety on Sunday.
Sunday - said shindig.
Monday - back to Pgh. Adam's plane lands at 7pm. I'm working on getting over the fact that originally, he would have been coming home for good, and Colleen would be picking him up.
Tuesday - AAA so he can get an international driver's license. Then back to C-bus. Larry and his merry band of med students have their first dinner. Adam escapes to Erin and Nic's, I'm sure.
Thursday - my brother and sister-in-law arrive in C-bus. Dinner for all the family who are arriving on Thursday, but since Jeff and Pam are coming in at 7pm, I'm thinking we'll skip it. No one else from our family is coming until Saturday, except my stepdad. The only other family we have is my stepsister and her husband, and Larry's sister. We are small in number, unlike Nic's family.
Friday - rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. My stepdad arrives in the middle of the rehearsal, so since Adam's not in the wedding, he gets to pick him up at the airport.
Saturday - The Wedding.
Sunday - the bride and groom leave for Portugal, and I get to take presents to their place, once Nic's brother, sil, and kids leave to go back to Slovenia. Erin is ~not happy that they're staying there and not at a hotel.
Monday - Adam and I go back to C-bus.
Tuesday - Adam has eye doctor appt.
Wednesday - Adam goes back to Japan.
Larry is on call for the rest of August and I go to C-bus again and again and again...
So, yeah, enjoying the solitude.
Also, Michael Phelp's "Nightmare in London"? Seriously, sports writers?
