Adam and I went out to eat tonight. There was tequila and beer. We talked about misogyny, female athletes, homophobia, religion, the Bible, sports, slash fanfiction, rape culture, Japan's sex industry, Pittsburgh's infrastructure, the New Deal, Mitt Romney's taxes, utopias, dystopias, the Industrial Revolution, pollution in China, aliens, natural disasters, drugs, Puritanism, why there are no Mexican teams in the NHL, pop cans and stop lights in Japan, Tokyo's subway system, Dec. 22, 2012, and the fact that the world is in fact one cell and needs to stop trying to destroy itself. We compared "1984" to "Brave New World," discussed the Olympics, how power dynamics in sex are a function of biology, rape in the military, DADT, how to train for a marathon, and the lack of real sandwiches in Japan.

He is, as he is fond of saying, someone who knows some shit about some shit. I'm going to miss him when he leaves on Thursday.
