halfamoon

So it's once again time for [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon. I don't write a lot of woman/female-oriented fiction. No real reason, I guess I'm just too busy writing about the guys. But my 2011 Big Bang, which was mostly about John and his boys, started out with about 5000 words of Mary's story. It was one of the parts I enjoyed writing the most, and it makes me think I should explore women characters more often. As [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon is fine with previously posted works, I'm posting just that part of the story here, so I can link to that comm.

When she was six, Mary's father taught her how to use a gun. )

Make the Yuletide Gay

I almost forgot about this, but since it's still the middle of January, I guess I'm not doing too badly.

Make the Yuletide Gay! The best present you won't find under your non-denominational physical representation of the holiday season this year!

This year, [livejournal.com profile] chalcopyrite wrote Same Song, Next Verse" for me, making me extremely lucky. It's the most wonderful Trickyfish in the world, with Chris's recent fortieth birthday party as the anchor. It's a beautiful story, obviously written by someone who knows me, and I treasure it greatly.

I wrote Take you for a trip all around the world for Melanie. (The link takes you to AO3.)

The request was for a Lance/Chris AU with both of them having blue collar jobs. I'm not exactly a popslash AU person, but I did my best. I like to think Chris and Lance were recognizable as Chris and Lance, you know? Also, if anyone who read it knows me at all, it was crystal clear that I wrote it. I mean, there was Pittsburgh and there was Disney World. What more do you need?

This was the tenth anniversary (the 11th year, really) of Don We Now Our Gay Apparel/Make the Yuletide Gay, and I'm glad I did it. Every year I say no at first, and then I say what the hell, why not? This was my ninth year, which is amazing. I remember when it used to be such a big deal, the biggest popslash exchange of the year -heh, I guess it still is, only in a different way - and it was terrifying to find out who your recipient was, especially if they were awesome - omg, [livejournal.com profile] giddygeek! How could I possibly write a story good enough for her?!

And now it's just warm and comfortable and it wouldn't be Christmas without it. I don't mean to make it sound unimportant, because it's still very special. It's just a different feeling than it used to be.

SPN fic: Gather Near to Us Once More

Title: Gather Near to Us Once More
Characters: Sam/Dean, Bobby
Rating: G
Word count: 1220
Warnings: None
Summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] insmallpackages. The prompt was Supernatural: ficlet, present-opening, first curtain!fic Christmas, Sam/Dean or Sam n Dean. It's Sam/Dean, but mostly in my head. It feels a little late for a Christmas story, but here it is. It's actually a timestamp for To the place I belong. Title from "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Sappy, I know. I couldn't help it.

SPN fic: Waltz of the Flowers

Title: Waltz of the Flowers
Rating: R
Pairing Sam/Dean
Warnings: None
Summary: Something is killing ballerinas at the Pittsburgh Ballet. Takes place sometime in some nebulous future.
Notes: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] 50states_spn. So, I researched folklore and local legends in the 'Burgh and came up with a couple of haunted libraries. While Sam might like that, I was bored. And I wanted to write about something in my city that I know and love, and the Dormont Library wasn't it. So, I made this up completely. The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater isn't the least bit haunted, as far as I know. You could look at this as a bit of PBT RPF, but I would imagine the members of the company would prefer you didn't. The whole thing is farcical enough as it is.

Tiny little H5O ficlet

This is for [livejournal.com profile] powrhug. Kare, I felt bad (okay, not really that bad) about the Steelers beating the Chiefs last night - although your defense was almost too much for our offense.

Anyway, here's a drabble tiny little 2.10 coda for you. It's brief and sappy. :)

324 words, NOT a drabble :) )

Reversebang Fic: Baby, You're so Real

Art link: Art Masterlist
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] violateraindrop

Fic Title: Baby, You're so Real
Fandom/Genre: SPN, bodyswap
Pairing(s): Sam/Dean
Rating: PG
Word Count: c.6000
Warnings: Not really.
Summary: It's not enough that Lucifer is popping up in Sam's head all the time, now Sam has to deal with looking in the mirror and seeing his brother's face. Not to mention, he has to listen to Dean complain about being tall. He can only hope that Dean and Bobby will figure out a way to reverse whatever the hell's happening, because it's making Sam dizzy.
Notes: I had a lot of fun with this one, and [livejournal.com profile] violateraindrop was a delight to work with. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] topaz119 - I kept her busy this week. Title from Matchbox 20, yet again. Also, this is labeled Sam/Dean, but it's more UST than anything else.

Fic: Passing on the Left-hand Side

This is my story for [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema.

Title: Passing on the Left-hand Side
Movie Prompt: Same Time, Next Year
Pairing: Jared/Jensen, Jensen/JDM, Jared/Chad
Rating: R
Word Count: c.11,000
Summary: Jared and Jensen meet one night and are instantly attracted to each other. But they already have lives, with jobs and families and other people in them and everything. So they agree to go their separate ways and meet up once a year, at the same time, in the same place. This is them, over the years, and it's very much a love story.
Warnings: Infidelity, obviously. That may not be the point of the movie, but it's certainly the premise.
Notes: I've been writing this story since February. Ten months. It was a bear, but I finally wrestled it into some semblance of submission. I've also been whining to [livejournal.com profile] topaz119 about it for that long. If it wasn't for her, it wouldn't be even close to all right. The title is a Matchbox 20 lyric. That's an easy habit to slip back into, and I just keep doing it. The LJ cut text is from the Johnny Mathis theme song from the movie.

And the last time I felt like this, I was falling in love... )

Fic: Catch Me a Catch

Title: Catch Me a Catch
Rating: PG
Word count: 1870
Pairing: I don't have the slightest idea if this is gen or Sam/Dean. Neither does Bobby.
Notes/summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] laurificus's prompt for her 706 Reunionating Comment-Fic Meme. Bobby hasn't forgotten what happened the last time Sam and Dean stopped talking. If getting them together again means he has to act like some old lady matchmaker in a god-awful romantic comedy, it still beats another apocalypse. This is a bit late, actually. Also, Bobby's not an old lady.

J2 fic: I see great things in baseball

Title: I see great things in baseball
Rating: R
Word Count: 8300
Pairing(: Jensen/Jared
Warnings: None
Prompt Title & Summary: #14 In Bed with the Boss

For three years, Kalera has been a model secretary to Duncan Royal, with only one hiccup in their otherwise perfect relationship: a one-night stand that should never have happened, and which both have tried to forget. Or so Kalera thought.
But Duncan is haunted by their one night of unbelievable passion, and secretly longs for their relationship to develop after office hours. As a rule, he can have any woman he wants—so he's furious when Kalera announces her engagement to another man! Whatever it takes, Duncan intends to entice Kalera into his bed once more—and this time it will be forever.

Summary: For the five years that Jared Padalecki has owned the Albuquerque Isotopes, Jensen Ackles has been his perfect assistant. Two years ago, they had a one-night stand. It was awesome, but they decided business and pleasure really didn't mix and agreed to forget it ever happened. Jared has no clue that he harbors real feelings for Jensen. He merely thinks that he thinks Jensen is hot, but when Jensen announces his intention to marry another man, Jared realizes he's actually in love with Jensen. Now he has to figure out how to convince Jensen that he feels the same.

Author's notes:Okay, I took a real minor league baseball team, the Albuquerque Isotopes – how awesome is that name? – and made up a bunch of lies about it. Or at least about the people who own it, work for it, and play for it. Their mascot really is a 6'5" red alien named Orbit, though. Title from Walt Whitman, on Union soldiers playing baseball during the Civil War. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] topaz119, who helped me dream this up. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ebcdic for such a fun challenge.

SPN fic: I will build for my family a bulletproof love

Fic title: I will build for my family a bulletproof love
Artist name: [livejournal.com profile] salty_catfish
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: R
Word count: 11,600
Warnings: canon character death
Summary: In the days and weeks following John's death, Sam and Dean hole up at Bobby's. Dean works on fixing the car, needing to rebuild their family home for him and Sam. Sam stews and fidgets over Dean's grief and anger, dealing with his own grief and guilt, looking for cases to distract his brother. Takes place after IMTOD, on through ELAC. In other words, spoilers through 2.02. Written for the Sam and Dean Mini-Bang.
Author's notes: Beta'd by [livejournal.com profile] without_me. Thank you so much, A, for taking the time to help me straighten this out. Thanks as always to [livejournal.com profile] topaz119 for listening to the unending whining. Title from "Flat of the Blade" by Massive Attack.

SPN fic: To the place I belong

Title: To the place I belong
Characters: Sam, Dean, Bobby
Word count: 4800
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Summary: Dean's tired, but Sam wants to keep going for as long as he can. Future!fic.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen. I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] embroiderama, which was great fun, since she was also my recipient for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling. (Two gen stories in a row, both for the same person. I was so inspired, my Big Bang ended up being gen, too.) I used her prompt "Dean stops hunting and settles down, but Sam keeps hunting until a permanent injury makes him stop." And now I get to post it with all the typos fixed, which is very exciting. Oh, and the title is from "Take Me Home, County Roads" by John Denver. So many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] topaz119, as usual, for the beta.

I'm tired, Sam. )
